The park has a very active volunteer program that over 140,000 people participate in every year. Most of the volunteer positions are available between November to April but there are others that are open all year round. There are many types of positions – trial trimming, clerical, unskilled and skilled maintenance, hydrology and biology data collection, beach clean-ups, exotic plant removal, environmental education assistance and visitor contact at the visitor centers or on walking trails. Volunteers are provided with hands-on training and educated about the cultural and natural resources of the park.

•Donations

If you do not have the time to volunteer, you may also choose to donate a small sum of money towards the conservation, restoration, management, and preservation of the diverse and unique ecosystem of the Everglades National Park.

•Join A Group

You may join one of the groups affiliated with the Everglades National Park’s such as the South Florida National Parks Trust. This trust was set up in 2002 with the intention of supporting the national parks, enriching culture and thereby improving the overall quality of life in South Florida. Since the trust has begun, it has been instrumental in spearheading many projects that promote education and community involvement.

•Be a Responsible Visitor
